There are 4 questions in this this category
1. Can I use the music backing track you produced in an audition or public performance?
This is actually two quite separate questions.
In the case of auditions, the answer will almost certainly be ‘yes’ and the only exceptions will be where such use has been expressly forbidden by the original rights holders.
Public performance of any music, recorded or live, is an entirely different situation. If the performance is for gain, that is you charge your audience whether or not you as performer receive anything, you may be required to pay a licence fee to the original rights holders. For material in the public domain or out of copyright there is generally no problem with public performance, with or without a backing track.
This is a complex legal topic and it is up to the performer to ensure that they have the right to perform their intended material. If you are in any doubt you should consult a lawyer specialising in this area.
2. Can you produce typeset copies from hand‐written manuscript?
If you own the copyright to the music (or you can show that no copyright will will be infringed by us doing so) we can typeset from any legible original. At the same time we will ensure that the typeset version is correctly notated; any abbreviated or shorthand notation will be correctly expanded. If the original manuscript was a score then parts can also be produced from it.
See our music and audio pages for more details.
3. The backing track you made is great. Can you produce a slower version for use in rehearsal?
If we produced the original backing track then we can produce rehearsal versions at any speed you want. See music and audio services for more details.
If you obtained the backing track elsewhere then it depends upon the format of the track and any copyright restrictions from the original supplier. Contact us for advice.
We can supply replacements for individual parts, sets of parts or scores for any piece we have produced. This is subject to any restrictions placed on us by the original copyright holders.
See music printing for more details.
